Junior Science

Year 9 and 10 Science

Students in the Junior School gain a broad knowledge of the scientific world.  They are taught essential skills in problem solving and to critically review ideas in Science.  At Aranui, we encourage each student to set their own targets for learning and utilise a wide variety of assessment techniques in order that everybody is able to achieve.

The Junior Science curriculum is divided into topics, each of which is linked to the New Zealand Curriculum for Science.  At the end of each topic, students are assessed on their understanding of the key concepts studied.  Their performance is monitored closely throughout the year and this information is used to ensure that students are appropriately placed within the Senior School.
