The aim of the Mathematics Department at Aranui High School is Academic Achievement. We strive for each individual student to gain the best possible qualification in the subject to equip them beyond schooling’ irrespective of their pathways.
Year 9/10
On entry students are tested using Asttle standardised testing. They are then grouped according to ability. Classes are timetabled at the same time, enabling movement between groups as and when appropriate. We recognise that students develop at different rates and so we constantly review class placements. Students are then taught using the scheme of work appropriate to their level. At the end of each unit of work students are assessed in line with NCEA. At the end of the year they are again tested using Asttle in order to measure progress.
