Welcome to the Science Department

 

At Aranui we work hard to ensure that Science is an enjoyable and valuable learning experience for all students. We are lucky to have specialised laboratories (with two brand new ones opened mid year 2009), experienced staff and excellent resources.  We place emphasis on the processes of investigating, experimenting, decision making and problem solving.  

All students in Years 9 - 11 follow a compulsory course in Science. We  teach Science as an integrated subject: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences are combined to provide an interesting, relevant curriculum.

Year 12 and 13 students can choose to study one or more of the Science areas in further depth.  Biology, Physics and Chemistry are taught by specialist teachers at NCEA Level 2 and 3.  For more information on these courses, please follow the appropriate link.
